Questlove cancels, reconfirms appearance at Bucks County’s ‘Best Prom in America’

Roots co-founder Questlove will be in Bucks County this weekend to make an appearance at what has been called the “Best Prom in America,” after all.

The Philly native and Tonight Show bandleader earlier this week was forced to cancel an appearance at Pennsbury High School’s senior prom, which is set to take place Saturday, according to CBS3. Following Questo’s cancelation, Pennsbury School District communications coordinator Ann Langtry told the station that the school was “pursuing alternative arrangements” for the evening.

“Despite receiving an email on Wednesday from his representatives about technology concerns, we reassured them that we were prepared to fulfill all contractual obligations and have Questlove join our students at the ‘Best Prom in America,’” Langtry said. “We are now actively pursuing alternative arrangements for our students to enjoy the spectacular evening they deserve.”

However, the Roots percussionist apparently had a change of heart, and informed students via social media today that after “adjusting some things,” he’d be at the prom.

What those “things” were remains unclear, but either way, Questo says he’ll be in Bucks for the event, which Readers Digest called the “Best Prom in America” back in 2012. The school has become known for attracting high-profile guests for the dance, which have included performers like John Mayer, Asher Roth, and Maroon 5.

This year’s prom features a theme dubbed “Yo Philly,” and costs $100 per student. The prom will be help in the Pennsbury High School gym in Fairless Hills.

Following Questlove’s cancelation of the event, folks expressed their disappointment to the musician on social media:

However, as publicist Carleen Donovan told the Trentonian in an email, “He is doing it. The show is back on!” Enjoy the dance, Pennsbury seniors.
